 INTRODUCTION

Food technology integrates the principles and concepts of science, chemistry, microbiology and engineering to be used for selecting, buiding, processing, analyzing, assessing, wrap and store food as well as beverage products. Recently, the rise in price of food and drink has made the food technology field will become more important to meet the needs of food and drink with are nutritious and good for general users. Students who join the program will be exposed to all aspects of learning about food; chemical properties of foodstuffs so that the products of refining food safety and high quality. They need to follow the course scientific curriculum as the preparation for the various job opportunities or to continue lessons at postgraduates studies in the fields related to Food Technology.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Food processing is one of the largest manufacturing industry and gives a very good job opportunities to the graduate technology food. Development and promotion of this industry need specialized workers in the field of food technology. Graduate which has food technology experienced can enabled them to become entrepreneurs in food industry or hold important jobs at the refinery to process food, food and foodstuffs suppliers as well as in the laboratories investigations, government agencies, legal agencies and also the enforcing agency.

Bachelor of Agriculture Biotechnology with Honours (MQA/FA9639)

BACHELOR OF AGRICULTURE BIOTECHNOLOGY WITH HONOURS (MQA/FA9639)

INTRODUCTION

Bachelor of Agricultural Biotechnology with Honours (MQA/FA9639) is the best preparation for the carrier in agricultural and biotechnology fields. This course provides the students with the basic knowledge and advanced production of agricultural products and biotechnology through various university courses. The first year of study, students will be exposed to microbiology, analytical organic chemistry, biochemistry, agriculture botany, crop science, agricultural economics, fundamental genetics and soil science. In second and third years including the biostatistics, crop protection, cell and molecular biology, principles of animal cell and tissue culture, plant physiology, agricultural entrepreneurship, plant in vitro technology, farm mechanization, plant breeding, bioinformatics, agricultural extension and plant signalling physiology. During the fourth year, the student will carry out the project in the end, the unfolding investigation seminar, plant genetic engineering, precision farming, irrigation systems, agricultural marketing, aquaculture, weed science and plant genetic resources.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The graduate will have various opportunities of professional carrier in agriculture or biotechnology fields. Among the carriers including agriculture officer, agriculture extension officer, agronomy officer, plant breeding officer and plant protection officer. In goverment sector, the graduate can involved in carrier based on laboratories and fieldwork, such as research officer and technical officer in Research Institute and Universities. In addition, the graduate may involved in the education sector or media related to biotechnology and agriculture.

BACHELOR OF ANIMAL PRODUCTION AND HEALTH (MQA/FA1672)

INTRODUCTION

Bachelor of Animal Production and Health (MQA/FA1672) is the best preparation for a career in the field of animal production and animal health. This program is an applied science degree that combines basic science and animal science fields, and was equipped with adequate amount of practical work. The first year of study provides students with a system of animal production and animal health through a variety of courses which are chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, economics, and genetics. In the second and third year of studies contain the basic anatomy, physiology, reproductive physiology, nutrition, animal breeding, biostatistics, meat production, dairy production, poultry production, goat production, microbiology, animal diseases, parasitology, and disease-causing agents. In the fourth year, students will undertake a short research project, seminar presentations, veterinary practice, veterinary public health, animal waste management, animal behavior and welfare, farm structure, agricultural extension and communication.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The purpose of this study is to train animal scientists find employment in a wide variety of conditions in animal agriculture, agribusiness (consultancy and advisory services), animal health and welfare, marketing, rural enterprise management (including farms), industrial breeding and research. BACHELOR OF HALAL FOOD DEVELOPMENT (HONOURS) (MQA/PA08749)

 INTRODUCTION

Bachelor of Halal Food Development (Honours) (MQA/PA08749) is important programme that deals with the innovation of food products for sustainability of future generations. Graduates of the course are critical thinkers and they are very much in demand in food and halal industries due to their scientific understanding of the technical aspects of food with emphasis of Syariah requirements. The course focuses firstly on helping student develop a greater understanding of Maqasid Syariah through education in halal fields, and secondly on the technology of food such as preservation, processing, and packaging to ensure that food is safe, nutritious and wholesome.

Bachelor of Halal Food Development (Honours) was offered in October 2021. The programme has received a quality certificate from the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). Bachelor of Halal Food Development (Honours) is a full-time study.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Halal food development is one of the largest manufacturing industry and gives a very good job opportunities. Development and promotion of this industry need specialized workers in the field of halal food development. Possibilities for future employment sectors include halal executive officer, development officer of new product, research and development officer, quality control executive (QC), food technology officer, production plant supervisor and nutritional consultant.
